Hamdullah Sayeed, youngest member to 15th Lok Sabha and son of former union minister of power, Late Shri P M Sayeed got married to Delhi girl Aamna Mirza, a PhD student of Delhi University, in an elaborate ceremony in Lakshwadeep. The nikaah ceremony was held on Sunday at his native island Androth and was attended by over 10,000 people from all over Lakshadweep.
Aamna had worn a dazzling lehenga high on traditional embroidery while Hamdullah looked dapper in a Zubair Kirmani sherwani. People from different islands thronged Androth Island to turn it into one of the biggest festivities the island has witnessed in a while. The nikaah ceremony was held at 9 am in the morning at PM Sayeed Mazaar, followed by a daylong feast high on traditional seafood preparations and sumptuous mutton dishes for the guests. Whole Island wore a festive look for the ceremony. This was also the first major personal celebration of the family after the demise of Mr P M Sayeed so one also had Congress functionaries attend the celebration in full force.
Their reception is to be held on March 15 in Delhi and with budget session also going on during that time, it is expected to be a high profile political function expected to be attended by bigwigs of Indian parliament, bureaucracy and corporate world. View Report
